First ISO Surveillance Audit Successful

The ISO Surveillance Audit took place on 23rd of this month. In response to the audit, the Auditors from TUV Nord appreciated our Library and Information Centre among five best positive points of our college. Their feedback about our department has doubled our confidence and responsibility.

Library Orientation Programme for MA Economics Students

The first year students of MA Economics of our College participated in the Library Orientation Programme held in the Library premises on 12-09-2011. Around 35 students participated in the event and availed the benefit of the same. The Library staff thank Dr. Marina Pareira and her studnets for making this event successful.

Book Review Competition

The Library and Information Centre and Junior College's Science Section have jointly organised Book Review Competition. Students may enroll their name for the competition. Last date to register: 30-09-2011. For more details about the competition, please contact the Librarian or Prof. Muley Madam.

Third ISO Internal Audit Succeessful

The Library and Information Centre was audited by Prof. Mona Bhatia (Vice Principal) on 20th August, 2011. This was the third Internal Audit post ISO Certification.

The auditor appreciated the management of Library and archiving system of Library's official documents. She also suggested to maintain Monthly Monitoring Report of the Library Staff.

UK Teacher Visits Our Library

Ms. Helena Martin, of Willesborough Junior School, Ashford, Kent UK, visited our Library on 17th August, 2011. She is in our institute under the Faculty Exchange Programme. Ms. Helen liked our Library very much. She writes in our Visitor's Register, " Very well resourced Library..welcoming and encouraging for the students".

Blood Donation Camp in Our Library

The NSS wing and Library of our College organised Blood Donation Camp on 11-08-2011. We got an excellent response from our Students. Around 155 students donated their blood for the special cause. We thank each one of our donaor for joining in the event and making it successful.

IQAC Meeting

This time the IQAC meeting was attended by high-profile members and faculty. The MLA of this locality Mr. Yogesh Sagar, solicitor Mr. Mehta and the faculty members of IQAC were present in the meeting.

The prime issues related to community help and financial aid to poor and meritorious students were discussed. Every quaterly the IQAC meeting will be held in the college.

New Borrower's Cards

The Library started issuing new borrower's cards to students and faculty. This time the cards have been printed on PVC cards (like PAN card) with the imported printer. Thanks to UGC for the funds to go for such a printer.

The response for the new cards have been overwhelming. The Library staff's efforts must be appreciated for the splendid job.

Workshop on 'Application of Web.2.0 in Libraries'

The one day workshop on 'Application of Web.2.0 in Libraries' was held in SNDT's Doshi College, Ghatkopar, Mumbai on 23-06-2011. Librarian Mr. Santosh C. Hualagabali was invited as Resource Person to deliver a lecture on 'Application on Web 2.0 in Library and Information Centres'. Around twenty five Librarians were participated in the workshop.

Access to INFLIBNET's N-LIST Fulltext Database

Teachers and students may contact the Librarian to access around 2,000 of e-journals and 80,000 e-books (from a reputed publishers) via INFLIBNET's N-LIST Fulltext Database.

Access to Online Journals

This year, the LInC has subscribed to more than 60 Online journals being published by SAGE, ICFAI and other prominent publishers. The Login ID and Passwords will be given to the students on request basis. Please request for the same on nklibrary83@gmail.com

ISO - Internal Audit of LInC

Our colleague, Dr. G K Kalkoti, audited our department on 22nd Feb. 2010 at 11.30 a.m.

Recommendations:

1. Signature stamp of the Librarian has to be changed with the new stamp.
2. Unlike other library equipements, Close Circuit Cameras have to be numbered.
3. The statistics of total library collection has to be compiled in one sheet as master copy.

The above recommendations will be implemented by the end of this week.

Book Exhibition on Higher Education

The Library and Information Centre organised Book Exhibition on Higher Education in the recently held International Conference on Higher Education in our College premises. Interestingly, one of the Resource Persons of the conference Prof. Joel Babalola of Nigeria University first bought arond ten books personally. Later on, Prof. Nazrul Islam, UGC Chairman of Bangladesh, also bought books for himself.
